Meet
Carolina
RN  IBCLC  Lactation Consultant   |   Palm Beach County FL

Hi, I'm Carolina Pérez Soto, RN, IBCLC — a Registered Nurse and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant supporting families across Palm Beach County. I see families in-home, virtually, and at my office in Delray Beach. At the heart of it all, I'm a mom.

My path into lactation care has been shaped by many things: my clinical education, years of supporting mothers and babies in hospital, outpatient, in-home, and virtual settings, learning from different approaches to birth and maternal care, and my own experience of becoming a mother.

My background

I completed my medical education and clinical training in Colombia, where my studies included maternal and infant care alongside a broad foundation in clinical medicine. After moving to the United States, I continued my healthcare journey through nursing and specialized further in breastfeeding and human lactation, earning my IBCLC certification in 2023.

In the United States, I am licensed and practice as a Registered Nurse and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant — not as a physician. My medical training in Colombia continues to inform the depth and breadth of how I look at lactation care, but my scope of practice here is that of an RN and IBCLC, and I always collaborate with your OB, midwife, or pediatrician whenever something falls outside that scope.

Over the years, my understanding of maternal and infant care has also been enriched by learning alongside midwives, doulas, birth workers, and — perhaps most importantly — from the mothers and babies I've had the privilege of supporting.

But motherhood gave all of that knowledge a different meaning.

Becoming a mother taught me what textbooks cannot fully capture: how vulnerable this season can feel, how deeply we can question ourselves, how overwhelming conflicting advice can become, and how much it matters to feel genuinely heard and supported. It's a big part of why I care so much about how families experience lactation care — not only about solving a feeding problem.

More than breastfeeding support

When I work with a family, I don't simply look at a latch or a number on the scale. I take the time to understand the bigger picture — your pregnancy and birth experience, your health history, your baby's feeding patterns, your concerns, your goals, and what is realistically sustainable for your family.

My clinical background allows me to approach lactation with a broad perspective, while my specialized training and experience as an IBCLC keep breastfeeding and human lactation at the center of my care. And as a mother, I understand something equally important: a plan has to work in real life.

Care built around you and your baby

There is no single "right" breastfeeding journey, and there is no one-size-fits-all plan.
Some families come to me because breastfeeding hurts. Others have questions about milk supply, weight gain, latch, pumping, bottle feeding, supplementation, returning to work, oral function, or simply whether their baby is feeding well. And sometimes what a mother needs most is someone who will slow down, listen, observe, and help her make sense of everything she's been told.

My role isn't to pressure you toward a particular version of feeding or motherhood. It's to help you understand what's happening, identify possible barriers, offer evidence-based options, and build a plan together that supports your goals while caring for the wellbeing of both you and your baby.

I value thoughtful assessment, education, prevention, and collaboration. When something requires evaluation or treatment beyond my scope of practice, I believe strongly in connecting families with the appropriate healthcare professional.

Why Wise Nesting?

The name comes from an idea I believe in deeply: every family is building their own nest, and making good decisions for that nest takes real knowledge — not someone else's plan, but the information and support you need to build wisely for your family.

I created Wise Nesting because I wanted families in Palm Beach County to have a place where that clinical knowledge and deeply human care could exist together. A place where you don't have to choose between evidence and intuition. Where your concerns are taken seriously, but you're also reminded to trust yourself. Where we can look carefully at the science, physiology, and details of feeding without losing sight of the mother holding the baby.

I know what it's like to love a tiny person so deeply that you want to get everything right. I also know that motherhood isn't about getting everything right.
Sometimes we simply need good information, skilled support, and someone beside us who understands the bigger picture.

That's what I hope Wise Nesting can be for you.
